What do I do if I was hit in a hit-and-run accident in South Carolina?

First, as with every accident, is to make sure you and anyone else in your vehicle of the other vehicle is okay. If you can get the license plate number or a portion of it that would be helpful too. Write this information down or otherwise record it. Make a “note” in your phone, record a video of you explaining the information and what you saw, write a text or email to someone or yourself. If there are witnesses to the hit and run and if you’re able to talk to them, try to get a statement from them and what they saw. Ask them about the make, model, license plate of the hit and run car. Did it have dents, scratches, or other identifiable characteristics? Ask them about the driver or if they saw any portion of the license plate.
